Santa's looking for a few good elves.
Volunteers are needed to take the children shopping and help them fill their
Christmas wish lists.
As the date of the event
gets closer, check back with us to find out how to participate in this great
event. We welcome your support.
Our
shoppers have four goals:
-
Help the child purchase needed clothing and other items on their
list.
-
Provide a positive and enjoyable experience for the
child.
-
Depending on the budget and need, the shoppers will help the child pick out a
gift for a sibling or a parent. You would be surprised how many kids ask to get
a present for a family member before they even look at clothes for
themselves.
-
Each shopper tries to find at least one special toy for the child.
Many times the budget has already been reached and the shoppers pay for this
item out of their own pocket.
When
shopping is done, many of our volunteers become Christmas Elves, if the child's
total bill exceeds the allocated gift, the shopping volunteer pays and donates
the difference.
The
HollywoodWest Fred Meyer graciously gives a discount for all purchases. In
addition to shopping children receive a new winter jacket from Columbia
Sportswear; a teddy bear for themselves and each brother or sister courtesy of
The Tigard police department and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Department; and
of course, the opportunity to visit Santa Claus and have their picture taken
with him.

us.
